Are you a full time blogger or just a part time? I’ve ran a poll last month about blogging full-time or part-time . The results revealed that the majority goes to the part time bloggers which I’m one of them.

Full time or Part time blogging?

I know that there are a lot of bloggers who are earning enough money to leave their office works and became a full time blogger. That is what every blogger dreamed of, if their goal is to have a successful blog.

A successful blog could earn you through advertising (sponsorship), Affiliate marketing, etc. This best explains in my post “how to make money blogging”. It sounds crazy to leave your job without a permanent source of income that you can depend on, so it is hard to just leave a high paying job just to sustain a part time bloggging to full time blogging career. So the main problem occurs on how you will budget your time, energy and focus on your blog if you are working?

Hardships on being a part time blogger

Based on my own experience as a part time blogger, I was having a hard time to budget my time, energy, effort and focus on my blog when I was beginning. I work 8 hours a day and travel 4 hours per day which have a total of 12 hours of working including transportation. The worst is, I have a shifting schedule so I have to adjust every time we shift schedule. When I was just starting to blog, it was so hard for me. But when the time goes by, blogging and working became just like playing for me.

I’ve found out that there is a time for everything. A time to sleep, a time to play and a time to work. I’ve also found out that the more you worry about tomorrow, the more you will become unfocused to your work and blog at the present. So I just disciplined myself on focusing on the present because the morrow will just care for itself. When it’s time for rest, no working or blogging should be done.

Remember that, thinking about your blog or work will always be a part blogging or working so you should not think about that when you are resting. That will be the time to rest your fatigued body and mind due to working and blogging so don’t even think about what to do next in your blogging plans. When it’s time to work, there should be no blogging or resting to be done. You should stay focused to your work or else you will not perform well and that could be a cause of being fired out to your job.

You cannot blog when you are working, but sometimes there are ideas coming out to you while you are working so it is wise to just jot it down in a piece of paper when you are not that busy then blog it when it’s time for blogging. I write this post just to share how I manage my time, energy and focus on my blog and work. I recommend it to everyone who have the same working schedules. For those employees who doesn’t have shifting schedules, I recommend to make your own adjustments. It will be always the best way for you.

Advantages and disadvantages of being a full-time blogger

There are so many advantages and disadvantages if you are a full time blogger. One of the advantages is having full control of your time. In full time blogging, no managers and supervisors walking around to monitor your work. You will always be the boss. Based on experienced bloggers, you can hire employees if you will need them to your blogging career.

You don’t need to work 8-12 hours a day, no time-in / time-out for your attendance and no uniform attire to be wear. But that’s only if you have a blog that could profit you like a full time employee. I’m not encouraging you to be lazy, but having a successful blog could give you the freedom to use your time the way you wanted. You can use your time for leisure, for traveling, for meeting friends, for vacationing with your family and most important is having a good time to enjoy what you are blogging without worrying on your schedules.

There are so many concepts about having a full time blogging career. It could be more stressful, more hectic schedules and deadlines to meet and it could be harder than an employee job. But that will always be depend on how you will manage your blog.
