Indeed guest postings are very important if your new to blogging and wanted to build targeted audience that visit your blog. But I don't thinks this guest posting is offered for free by most of the popular blogs out there. They include that in the advertise section which is a bit painful for the newbie to invest to market his blog. Anyways it would be better if you can start guest posting on blogs that have similar traffic as of yours first and slowly after building your traffic base and earn some money then you can invest that in writing guest posting on pro blogs which can massively drive traffic to your blog. Besides guest posting, its a better practice to link to a blog popular in your niche and send an email to the admin of the blog mentioning about your link. This in most cases impresses them and they tend to throw a link back to you which will not only bring traffic but also improve your blog ranking.
