Steps to Make a Better Blog Post
There are times that you find so many ideas of what to write on your blog, but you just don’t know how to effectively deliver it to your readers. Sometimes you expect your post to be very presentable to your them, but it just end up into an unattractive one.
Here are the steps to make a better post to your blog:
- Do the brainstorming – As I have mentioned in my post How to choose a domain name for your website or blog, brainstorming is also the first step in choosing a good one. To make a better post you need to have a good ideas of what to post. In a clean white paper, choose the main topic you want to tackle. Then add ideas on that topic and put them altogether as one.
- Preparing - Now you got good ideas to share, take your time to think on how to deliver it to your readers effectively. Your readers FIRST IMPRESSION to your post is very important in this step. Think on how you can satisfy them from the opening line of your first paragraph to the end of your post.
- Writing the opening line of your content – this is the most important part of your post. By your first paragraph, your first time visitor is deciding if he can find something necessary through out your post. And if he was satisfied with your opening line, he’ll be reading it until the end of your post.
- Writing the body of your content – So you have satisfied your reader with your opening line, here comes the main body of your content. A blog having a content about answering questions or solving a problem is always a good kind of blog. You need to provide content which can be useful to your readers. Try to interlink sites that you find very useful to them, but beware of the sites that you are linking. You should check first the site before recommending it to your readers. You can also link your previous post if it is necessary.
- Writing your closing line – When your reader was fully satisfied with your post, they will keep coming back for more. In order to make that satisfied first time reader become a loyal reader, it will be a wise move to offer them to subscribe to your newsletter.

Right now, there are tons of guest blogger writing for Brian. And these coming months, Brian has so many schedule of being a speaker. If you read Brian’s posts, you’ll find out that he always write post on improving a blog’s content and building readership and traffic on blog.
As a proof of his excellent readership, he always receives comments on brilliant readers; Usually 100 comments per post and lots of retweets.
Copyblogger’s guest blogger Sonia Simone is also a good example of blogger who write remarkable blog posts. She is a senior editor on copyblogger and did a great job on being a founder of Remarkable Communication.

1. Be consistent – One of the most important thing to make a blog post is to be consistent in what you are writing about. When you are just starting to write on a narrow niche, expect slow coming of readers. But when they slowly crowded your blog, expect nothing. Just be consistent on writing on your niche.
2. Stick on your blog’s goal – Making a mission and vision on your blog clears the path for successful readership. Therefore, making an idea of what to write will not be a hard thing to do anymore. You’ll just need to follow the path where you started. Keep holding on your objective and set a goal for it.
3. Respect your readers just the way they respect you – Your reader’s opinions are the gold that you can dig in your blog. Savor their appreciation and always understand what they are trying to say.
4. Expect someone who misunderstood you – There are times that some of your readers misinterpret what you are trying to convey. If you think that reader needs a sincere explanation on the information you write on your blog, then respond to the reader’s comment.

If you have given 10 seconds chance to attract a reader to read your blog, how will you construct your first paragraph?
The first ten seconds of a reader is very crucial to your blog post to be read. In this length of time, the reader have the option to either visit your blog, read it on the reader’s feed or just ignore your it. Therefore, you should focus on that length of time on attracting readers to read you post.
First items that your reader see on your blog post that you must improve:
Post title – There are so many techniques on how to craft the title of your blog post.
* Catch the attention of your reader – An ordinary title of a blog post doesn’t work more effectively nowadays. I’ve noticed that the more unique your post title is, the more chances for it to be read by a reader.
* Shock a reader – Exaggerating post title is one of the effective ways on having a reader continue reading your blog post. It throws curiosity that makes a reader click on your blog post title link to continue reading.
Opening line – Reading your post’s opening line takes only about 5 seconds on having a reader make his decision on reading the whole content.
* Always through curiosity – Jump start your first sentence by making a readers said “What’s this? May I have the information? Let me glance a little.” Therefore after reading that first sentence, your reader will start on scrolling down your blog to see the rest of your post.
* Start with an interesting question – Are you going to read this tip? Therefore, you should continue reading in order to learn something about this post. That one is just an example. It catches the reader’s attention especially when the question relates on what they want to read.
The above are the basic things that the reader of your blog reads on their first 10 seconds of visiting your blog posts. Another factor is to have a reader visit your blog from your feed reader.
I have tried this before, I subscribed to my own blog and see how my blog feed appears to my email readers. I would suggest you do the same so that you can monitor how your feed works.

Title of your feed – This will serve as the title of your blog post. It appears the same with your blog post title.
* Tease reader to read – The same on blog post title, the title of your feed is an attempt to direct your readers to your blog post. You don’t need to worry about creating it because when you create your blog post title, the feed title will automatically created as the same.
Excerpt – There are so many techniques on how to create excerpt on your blog.
* Attaching the whole post – Copying the draft of your post then pasting it directly to excerpt allows your reader to directly read the whole post of your blog right in their email.
* 3 periods symbol to tease a reader – Maybe copying a little line on your blog then adding (…) as the closing line could make a reader click on the feed title and read your blog post directly to your blog.
