wordpress 2.8Last June 11, 2009, I’ve received a notice in my admin that wordpress 2.8 is available for upgrade. There are so many new features of wordpress and bugs that have been fixed.

Uploading and installing a theme in the admin

Changing of your theme will be more easy than the usual. In version 2.8, wordpress now allow you to upload and install your wordpress theme that you can specify in the add new themes button in the appearance section.

You can filter searching of themes. From the different colors, number of columns, your blogs width and features. After searching for the right theme of your choice, you can now install or preview the ideal theme that you want.

New surface on widgets section

In the previous version of wordpress, you can choose which sidebar you want to appear then hit the show button to show the sidebar. In version 2.8, all of your widgets was already at the side so you don’t need to choose each one of them one by one.

At the left side of the widgets section shows the available widgets for your blog and the inactive widgets. Additional API widgets are now available to be added to your blog. Inserting a widget now will be more easy than the previous. You can easily drag and the drop the widget that you wanted to be added to your blog.

New surface of Plugins section

In the previous version, inactive and active plugins are separate. But in the new version, all of the plugins are altogether now. You don’t need to drag down your page just to activate  a plugin. Simply click on activate or deactivate button in activating a plugin.

There are so many more features that I have not yet mentioned. How do you like WordPress 2.9?
